Jewel of French mineralogy, the Auvergne blue fluorite is sought after by collectors all around the world. Here is a stunning specimen from Le Beix mine (operated from the end of the XIXth century to 1977), arguably the most famous blue fluorite locality. It features large glassy and transparent fluorite cubes of intense sky blue color on a contrasting white quartz carpet that coats a massive first generation purple fluorite sliver. Both sides of the specimen display nicely, allowing the eye to contemplate the perfect cubic shape and transparency of the blue fluorite crystals, fascinatingly reminiscent of crystallized pieces of sky.Ex Albert Chenavier's collection (former works director for the Paris public transportation company RATP in the 70's), purchased in 1978.This specimen was professionally prepared in lab for display (no restoration nor repair).
