A superb specimen displaying an eye-catching sea of cyan blue aragonite balls, overgrown by gravity-oriented stalactiform concretions. The overall architecture is reminiscent of a blue cloud, or frozen ice bubbles. Such large cabinet-sized objects from the small Arrigas mines are really uncommon; this specimen was part of the Jean Leynaud's collection that I recently acquired. Jean was a discreet collector from Ardèche, who gathered a significant regional collection between the 1980's and 2000's, featuring nicely selected specimens from the surrounding and southern France mines, still active at that time, but also from worldwide localities. He, along with two friends, discovered a major (possibly the best known) pocket in Arrigas in the 80's. The specimen you can see here comes from this exceptional find. A great opportunity to get a remarkable and colorful specimen from a now closed locality.
