Description
Here is a rare local specimen! Ferrodolomite is an iron-rich dolomite only known as collectible samples from the old Stolzembourg copper mine. On this specimen, you can see the characteristic reddish ‘hematoid’ color of dolomite and combination with micro sulphides, namely chalcopyrite and galena. The Stolzembourg Mine was a copper mine where operations began in the 1500s and ended during World War II, between 1938 and 1944. The mine museum has a very informative website for further information.. Ex collection Koch (Belgium).
